Design of Die Casting Parts

  1. Wall thickness.Wall thickness affect filling and injection.
  2. Ejection off mould.Ejection off mould is main issue during production. The designer have to calculate draft and ejection force of cavity and core.Normally, draft will be 1 to 3 degree.Outer draft will be 1 degree if inner draft is 2 to 3 degree.
  3. In design of die casting tooling,multi-sliders have to put each side of mould evenly.
  4. Some die casting parts need surface treatment like powder coating, therefore,it is necessary to avoid spure put on the outer surface. Weiheng Die Casting is Professional for design of die casting parts.

  1. Try not to design complex die casting parts.Such as the die casting parts need tooling with multi-slider.
  2. As for die casting parts which need secondary machining,no more than 0.8mm allowance will be necessary in order to get better surface finishing.
  3. Material selection.Depend on working condition of die casting parts.
  4. Aluminum alloy is quite hard so the snap lock have to be made in plastic.
  5. Deep hole can only be made by tapping.
  6. Need to add ribs on thin wall to increase strength.
  7. The design of die casting parts is similar to plastic parts. Some design of plastic parts can be used for die casting parts.
  8. The inner temperature and pressure of die casting tooling are much higher than plastic parts tooling. Therefore,The tooling life span will affect badly if there is welding inside tooling.
  9. Avoid shard corner
  10. The precision of die casting parts can not be same as plastic parts. Therefore, the design of die casting parts can not be complex.Divide into two part if necessary.
  11. Screw hole can not be made by tapping for die casting parts.
  12. Porosity is common for die casting parts.
  13. The die casting aluminum alloy contain more silicon which affect anodizing. It will take longer time for anodizing if alloy contain more silicon and anodizing film will turn to dark grey.Anodizing can be done if change direct current to pulse current.
